About POAC 2017
International conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions in 2017 (POAC 2017) will be held in June, 2017 in Busan, Korea. Around 200 participants from over 30 countries are expected. In addition to the conference itself, there will be banquets, fields visits, and optional tours. POAC 2017 is hosted by Local Organizing Committee (LOC), which consists of Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), the Society of Naval Architects of Korea (SNAK), Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), and the Metropolitan City of Busan.
Busan, Korea
Busan is the second largest city in Korea, located in the southeastern Korean peninsula. The weather during the conference is mostly like to be early summer, around 11-25°C (52-77°F). The venue will be located in the Haeundae area, renown nationwide for its beaches. Further information about the venue will be announced in time.
Accommodation and Foods
In the Haeundae area, there are many hotels available within walking distance. The rates for decent hotels range from 100USD to 200USD. There is a wide selection of international menus as well as traditional Korean food. During the conference, all of the lunches, a icebreaker party, and the banquet will be served by the LOC.
Visitors from certain countries may require a visa to enter Korea. Please check the Korean visa exemption agreement at Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advance and begin your visa application, if required.
Social programs
Several social programs will be prepared as follows:
• Local tours by participants
• Field trips to Korean shipbuilding industries (Hyundai Heavy Industries, DSME, Samsung Heavy Industries, etc.)
• Trip to ice tank in KRISO (Optinal)
• Arrangement for optional tours in Korea may be available upon request.
Applicable registration fee for participants and accompanying parties will be determined and announced around mid-2016. Registration fee can be paid by credit card.
Tentative Schedule
All of official web service will be initiated from 2016 onward. In the meantime, please keep in mind the tentative schedule for the conference as follows:
• Abstract due: October 31, 2016
• Abstract acceptance: November 15, 2016
• Paper due for review: January 31, 2017
• Paper acceptance: March 15, 2017
• Early registration: May 1, 2017
• Conference: June 11-15, 2017
